Poker tournament schedules - all in one place.

As you would no doubt have guessed (poker players being canny creatures), g5poker.com lists live poker tournament schedules for casinos, private members clubs and some pub leagues. And because poker players are also often cautious (and sometimes a bit lazy), we thought we’d save you the trouble of looking up the schedules one website at a time.

So we brought them all together, in one place. Aren’t we nice?

Reviews

Not only have we saved your hours (ok, minutes - but quite a few of them) trawling casino sites, but we also have user-reviews of the various venues. And we’ll let you post your own reviews too.

Obviously the more switched on amongst you will realise that user reviews for a competetive market like poker will be subject to some gaming of the system, so we’re going to moderate the reviews before they get posted. We won’t block reviews simply if they’re unfavourable. We believe that honest reviews are fundamental. But it wouldn’t be unheard of for someone to post some unfavourable reviews on a competitor’s page. Similarly, having 3000 identical entries of “this is teh best poker tournaments in teh world ever!!!!11!” posted in the space of 2 minutes from the same IP address means something fishy is going on (or it’s a really big household and they spend too much time on ICHC…)

You can check the terms of use for acceptable content in reviews, but in short:

No accusations of lawbreaking / cheating - if you’re that concerned then speak to the venue manager or if it’s really serious, the police.

Don’t mention specific names

No links or adverts

If you’re going to post an unfavourable review, take a second to tell us why it’s unfavourable. If you’re steaming from a bad beat it could cloud your judgement so maybe leave it till the next day.

Similarly, if you’re going to post a favourable review, tell us why it’s good. If it’s your first game or first visit to a casino then tell us, it’s useful information for other new players.

It’s mostly common sense - think of these two questions:

1. Does your review help players make an informed and fair decision about a venue?

and/or

2. Does your feedback help the venue management provide a better service?

Here’s an example of a short and an in depth review which would be accepted:

“First visit to the casino - told them first time and they took care of us, liked the game overall but didn’t like dealing. Avoid the chickenwings.”

“When we visited the North Sea casino for the £50 Freezeout, we were generally unimpressed at the decor - the place looked pretty tired and in need of a refurb. The tournament director was swamped with people waiting to register and we found out there had been a glitch in the registration system. But he did his best to get us all registered as quickly as possible and the tourney only started 10 mins late. It was self deal which I find annoyingly slow, but the regulars were good at dealing and keeping the game moving along. A few disputes arose which the TD sorted out quickly and fairly following their published rules. Tourney was a nice structure with longer first few levels to allow some decent play, but after the break became a bit crapshooty. Final table was dealer dealt by the TD himself and he did it well, but with annoying breaks when he jumped up to sort payouts for the final tablists. Payout structure for the top 9 (from 54 entrants) was very top heavy, but casino comps often are and deals usually get struck with final 3 anyway. Valet / waiting staff were a mixed bag, one polish guy who got drinks and food quickly, and an english girl who looked like she couldn’t really be bothered. Overall it was ok, I’d go back again but it would be better if they sorted out the post-break blind structure, ran a hoover round the place and told the valet staff to smile.”
